May 14th Program at the Grange

Nancy Lecompte will begin a series of presentations about the many Revolutionary War soldiers associated with the town of Sidney (including Early Vassalborough).

She will start the series with a presentation about our prisoners of war and the conditions they endured in the hands of the British. Come join us and learn about Elkanah Bangs, who is memorialized in Sidney but never lived here; Ezekiel Chase, who survived the prison ship Jersey; and Ebenezer Trask, who was taken prisoner on the Penobscot Expedition.

This will be a good opportunity to check out the improvements being made in our museum. Perhaps you can contribute in some small way. Like all nonprofits, we rely heavily on member involvement.

Memorial Day is not far off. We encourage all members to be a part of the Day’s activities. SHS will be open during the festivities., so don’t forget to visit our Veterans displays. There is always something new. Beth’s veteran’s photo collection continues to grow. Nancy and Sue continue to discover new information about our Revolutionary War soldiers. Please join us.
